Shankill Family Practice offer a wide range of services, from vaccination to chronic disease management.

Doctor's appointments

Doctor's appointments are needed to diagnose complaints, prescribe a new medicine, monitor an ongoing prescription or order a blood test. We also have appointments available every day for life's little surprises. It may be helpful to give some brief details when booking as our reception staff can arrange the most appropriate visit for you. Our doctor consultation fee is €70.

Nurse consultation

Nurse Laura and phlebotomist Mary Laulita are our experienced clinical staff. They offer many services that may be of benefit such as;

Blood taking
ECG and blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)
Diabetes care
Ear syringing
Cervical screen taking
Contraception review
Wound care and dressings
Vaccinations

The fee for a nurse consultation is €30. The blood test charge is €30 for private patients and €20 for medical card holders. Other service fees are available from reception.

Chronic Disease Management clinic

This clinic is free for people aged 18+ years who have a medical card or GP visit card and have a specific chronic disease(s). The specific chronic diseases are: type 2 diabetes, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular disease including heart failure, heart attack (angina), stroke, and irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation).

The programme is free and includes two set reviews every year. Each review includes one visit with the practice nurse followed by a visit with your GP. For more information on the benefits of the Chronic Disease Management programme and how it works here.

Antenatal care

We provide antenatal care for anyone expecting. As part of the Maternity and Infant Care scheme we can confirm your pregnancy, along with regular visits with your GP for check ups and help in having a happy and healthy pregnancy. We also offer advise surrounding heathy eating, supplements to take during pregnancy, and exercise during pregnancy. We also offer advise surrounding vaccinations recommended during pregnancy such as influenza, Covid-19, and whooping cough.
