Shankill Family Practice offer a wide range of services, from travel vaccination to diabetic clinics. 

Doctors Appointments

Doctor's appointments are needed to diagnose complaints, prescribe a new medicine, monitor an ongoing prescription or order a blood test. We also have appointments available every day for life's little surprises. It may be helpful to give some brief details when booking as our reception staff can arrange the most appropriate visit for you.  Our Doctor Consultation fee is €65.

Nurse Consultation

Nurse Toni Dwyer is our experienced Practice Nurse.  She offers many services that may be of benefit such as
  • Blood taking
  • ECG and blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)
  • Diabetes care
  • Ear syringing
  • Cervical Smear taking
  • Contraception review
  • Wound care  and dressings
  • Vaccinations
The fee for a nurse consultation is €30.  The blood test charge is €30 for private patients and €20 for medical card holders.  Other service fees are available from reception.

Diabetic Clinic

As part of the HSE Diabetic Cycle of Care program nurse Toni Dwyer sees all patients with Type 2 Diabetes twice a year. This is a comprehensive review of medications, blood results, kidney function, blood pressure and weight. Entitlements, such as free diabetic medication via the HSE Long Term Illness Scheme and Podiatry Card can be processed. Annual flu and Pneumonia vaccination are recommended for patients with Diabetes. Free screening to prevent diabetes affecting the eyes is arranged through Retina Screening. Formal Diabetes education for patients can be arranged through the HSE XPERT program. We work closely with St. Colmcille's, St. Michael's and St. Vincent's University Hospital and referral to hospital diabetic clinic can be arranged if needed.  A nurse consultation charge applies for private patients.  The cost of the service is covered by the HSE for medical card holders.

Travel Vaccination

If you are planning a trip to far flung destinations and are in need of travel advice and vaccinations we can assist. We stock the most frequently recommended vaccines and are a certified Yellow Fever Vaccination Clinic. Leave details of your travel plans with reception prior to booking your doctor's appointment. The Doctor reviews the itinerary, advises and prescribes on necessary vaccines.
